Scientists gave talks on how they monitor in their jobs using scientific techniques.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="left"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.teesdaleschool.co.uk/content/main/news/medicine_science%5Cchemicals.jpg" width="180" /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This approach will be used more and more in the Science College to bring the science alive through other subjects.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;History pupils will be using these events when they study the history of medicine and how technology is used in modern medicine. All term they have been working on generating oxygen and hydrogen. After a few (loud and scary) hiccups we have discovered the exact ratio needed to react oxygen and hydrogen to send a plastic bottle flying !&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class="left"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.teesdaleschool.co.uk/content/ScienceCollege/News/blast2.jpg" width="150" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt; Zoe, Clare, Sarah, Ruthanna, Thomas and Michael will be lighting the fuse on Tuesday dinnertime. Our year 11's have secured a place in this event which is normally reserved for Year 12 and 13's.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Industrialists will present the pupils with problems they face and cannot solve at the moment. Pupils will analyse existing data and devise a strategy to solve their problem. The hydrogen-oxygen rockets were exploded Tuesday 15th January at 1pm. Amazingly there was a dead heat with two rockets travelling 5.1 metres each. It will involve sixth form pupils driving the milk float to collect the waste. KeyStage Three and Four pupils will coordinate the collection of the bins and education of the the rest of the school about how and what to compost. The Sustainability Action Group is liaising with the volunteers and driving the sustainability agenda through the school. We are developing further the outstanding work of Nick Copson, the school chef. Nick has developed a menu sourced almost entirely locally.
